Yes.
I have to admit, SantaCon was one of the most out-of-control, fun and hilarious days I’ve had this year. Yelling Christmas carols on the 4 train packed with dozens of other santas stands out as one of the highlights, as does singing feliz navidad with the red cross workers, hanging with the Santasaurus and watching the e’ed out santas rave to techno in a bar packed with candy-cane-, elf- and of course, santa-clad hooligans. The only small glitch in the day - when two of my friends turned into SantaCon-victs in the subway, getting a hefty ticket. Besides that, pure bliss! I can’t wait til next year!
Every Santacon is the same but wholly special and different. Like a drunken snowflake.
I remember standing on the Staten Island Ferry, watching the sun go down, with a friend and a reported from England in town to cover some comedians I know. None of us had seen the city from that viewpoint before and we each began to make that comment at the same time, laughing as we realized that we were now stuck in each others’ memories.
Oh, and the drunken debauchery and hijinks. Who could forget that.
